To add to you comments about video editing for Jazz 178 and 188, I would like to say I have used ULEAD studio 9 version with no problem. In fact this editor version is not buggy like version 11 and has a short learning curve.

In addition to producing a DVD you can save the edited files in WMV at 720p

OR, I found the commercial editorMagix Movie Edit Pro 14 (andthe PLUS version) will edit the NATIVE file normally without having to jump through these hoops.
I wanted to update and say 'thanks' for this suggestion. After a lot of experimentation, I've also settled on using Magix. Not having to re-encode saves so much time and drive space. Plus, ME is a very powerful tool.

Anyone notice how Movie Edit will only open native 720x480 files as 4:3 AR, which squashes the video down to 640x480?

Is there any way around this?
