Also it could be good to try out
Linpus Quick OS or
Linpus Lite or Linpus Media Center from
www.linpus.com
Linpus Quick OS is not downloadable there yet,
but maybe you find another download link ?

If you try it out, please post your experience over here.

Otherwise there is also
http://www.hyperspace.com/

or a hacked Splashtop for USB drives.
butI have not yet found a ready to install ISO
Splashtop for USB sticks.

I really love Presto !
The installed Kaffeine player really rocks !

I just tested to view a few clips I took in 1080p
mode with full digital zoom with FW 2602
and there is an issue, that it does not fully
take 30 frames/sec in fully digital zoom.
It seems the frame rate is slower then.

Also I can now see, that the last 8 pixels lines
have some problems.
There is an compression artifacts there.
Also the last line is green, so you have to crop them
during video editing.

Will test the camera now further with FW2703.

One problem I found with FW2703:
There was a white pixel in the center of the screen
when I zoom full optical zoom in a critical lower light
scene.
With FW 2602 I did not see this bad pixel.

I have to test this some further to see, if if is really
firmware related or if the CMOS sensor chip is bad.

Well,
I am just writing this with Firefox 3.0.10
under Presto, I really love this fast booting
Linux system now !

Regards, Stefan.

Hi guys!
I don't know if you know tiziano ferro, an Italian singer, known worldwide, especially in Latin America. Well, yesterday I went to his concert with my Z700 with firmware 2402 ... see what I have filmed!
Note: sound is distorted because I was exactly in front of the stage ... and we know better the limits of aiptek mic.
I didn't use any support or tripod, just free hands among thousand of people!

recording in 720p 60fps, stabilization on, auto focus on, auto light condition.

There is something that the latest firmware makes to have a better video than this?
Waiting your comments ...

How loud was this, to me it sounded like 15 being 10 the highest.
I filmed with a natural amplified area, and the narrator, and the guy yelling quite normal.

2. at 1 min 32 get that persons video/film and compare LOL

something is quite not right

Hello folks,

After lurking in here for a couple of days early last month (April), I went ahead and got the GVS which was shipped with FW2302. The following is a sample video taken on a gloomy (overcast) day. It was captured @ 720p/60fps with WB set on auto:

Do you think I will get a noticeable improvement if I were to upgrade to one of the later FWs?

Thank you all for sharing your expertise and experience on the subject.

2302 or 2503. you will not get better then that you are on a cloudy, and overcast day. not summer, nor was the sky blue. You may want to try out thefw, and you must ask for the default so you can go back. do not accept outside sources

Hi Fishy,

Thanks for the timely reply.

Also to be considered in the sample video is that it was shot with a 0.6x magnification wide angle attachment which degrades quality to a certain degree. I also engaged the additional macro wide angle trick (I'm a wide angle nut ).

The GVS' built-in mic is very sensitive and is very good for capturing general ambient sound. However, it's not very good for dialogue (interview, speech, etc.) in a noisy environment; it picks up just about everything audible. For this, I use an exterior cardioid (somewhat directional) stereo mic. I'd like to have a wireless system but that's another story.

The GVS was also mounted on a stabilizer rig (steadicam type) for this shoot. I could have done a better job balancing it but I didn't have time to fiddle with it.

Anyway, what are the differences between 2302 and 2503? Does 2503 retain the very useful "extra macro wide angle" bug?

lose the macro trick I am afraid, they added a lil finese to the fw vid. never did they tell us direct. so all is aguessing game. you can always reflash back if not liked.
the cam we should not add a wide angle as they already zoomed in preset. LMAO sorry but a great dissapointment to all. when doing a interview why is our cam so far back for a upper body shot LOL.

So what do you think was added to 2503 that is not in 2302 in your opinion?

For the record, I have already requested all the firmware versions available since 2302 (including 2302 for backup); a couple of times through direct email and a couple of times through their website customer service feedback/email system. They have not responded to date. What's up with this company anyway? This is the first time I've encountered a company that is so elusive when it comes to their software/firmware updates. Nuts! I guess they believe they get more business this way.

What do you mean by this?

Which interview? I wasn't really interviewing; just covering and capturing the atmosphere of the event.

fw, no one knows wecompare, and we are al guessing.

like I said the cam isset up you are filming, at a distance, and the distance is wrong , it is set at 1.4 not at zero.

I said. ifyou film a live shot and you set the cam up the shot is focused incorrectly you need to stand a lot further to film due to incorrect focal set up.

Yes you'renot the only one that does not recieve a response. I was promised the world and I am lef out high and dry in the wind. so do not feal bad. the way they operate, bash
