i did only dry test which mean that the camcorder was not working (i didnŽt charged the battery yet). i just checked how good the zoom-slider-button does slide in both ways (up and down) and noticed that when i push it down (outzoom) it does not click when i reach the end but when i slide it up like when i would do zoom in, then it makes a noise/click.

is that normal, or is there something wrong with my camcorder? because if there is something wrong, iŽll send it back to get one which works the way it should be!

sorry for my bad english.

regards from germany.

You explaied it perfect. possable more info is needed for me.

1 when you do a record and you zoom, does the click sound, heard in the video?

2 when you have the cam on you only hear ir when you arejust viewing, without recording.

I believe you said when you just view andto the 5x optical you hear snapping. and that the Z700 should be returned, it is defective.

3 try this out. press up the zoom super slow, and see if you hear the clicking when you're testing the way you did it?

Reasons one may hear certain sounds when recording are rough on butons, and jerky movements mics are sensitive, but ifyou said you hear it and believe it is defective again I return.

Would you Conciter that a concert Sound, I think it passes for it, and it is a AHD 720p camcorder, so I am sure any camcorder should (did not say will) do fine. not a fan of LOUD music LOL.

I have the very same problem here in South Texas. They like loud music at their gatherings and it always comes out distorted.

I am not sure why Aiptek feel they have to set the gain so high. I was told by Aiptek the mic is designed for family use rather than concerts etc. I guess outside it helps capture voices from a distance better but this obviously leads to distortion with continuous loud sounds.

Our basic Canon A1000 digital camera seems to cope much better with loud music so we tend to use that more now for this type of siutation.

Perhaps finding an external mic with an attenuator would work. Of course it would no longer be in Stereo but the internal Stereo Separation isn't very good anyway.

Here's hoping that Aiptek does something about adding at least a manual mic attenuation option in the menu.

We went to the Moody Gardens Aquarium near Houston in Texas at the Weekend. Here is some video I took of a Giant Sea Turtle inside with my Aiptek GVS to show how it copes with a low light situation.

For me, I think it's quite acceptable really, considering it's an inexpensive camcorder.

yes... you are right..
it is important to have a sensitive microfon for family use, instead of loud sound recording! for this money is perfect

Got this need item for free, but paid shipping, no biggie. posting the clip up

I do not really have to ride in thedark, i am sure Blue is a sweet color, and wonder if other colors were available

here is a sample clip, they say 5 mph is all you need to get the device running. so i may just rig my boomstick to the side later ride with one of the cams, and capture the moment. sounds like a plan.

Yes I have seen those. Same concept as the fans and also the clocks that have a swinging pendulum spelling out a moving message.
