I'll call a CMOS sensor good in low light, when I see it.
My Jazz HDV178 is almost as good as the Sanyo HD700 I had on long term test, so they are definitely getting better. In fact it seems to be less noisy. The only problem is that it starts to lose color in low light but still not bad for a $99 camcorder.

Well, only one problem with that. The HD700 is abysmal in low-light.

You might try using a camera like the Z1012, V1073 or Canon HF100 as a comparison The Canon CMOS sensor eats the HD700 alive - more than 3 f-stops in low light... as do the CCDs in the Kodaks...

It will be interesting to see what the price point will be for their new HD cameras. Their current one was a bit overpriced originally in my opinion.
