It seems that even when Sony develops something jointly with another company they STILL have to have their own way of doing things even then don't they?

Sorry you deleted the message. I got to read it in my email notification and I think it could be useful for some other people in the forum.
Lesson learned: download from the camera, using propietary software, not from the SD card.

YouTube uploading is fast with AVCHD Lite using PhotofunStudio.
Miserable quality, of course, but that's what you get on Youtube.

.
I have two Panasonic ZS3 (TZ7) which I have used since last year (one a spare). Here is some of my AVCHD video, mixed using AVIsynth and my Lenovo Atom-powered netbook:

http://www.vimeo.com/12292094

When at home I convert to Cineform using AVIsynth/Virtucaldub and then edit in Sony Vegas. Editing Cineform is like lightning in Vegas, and has no generational loss during processing. Files are huge, but disks are cheap..

If anybody is interested, here is the AVIsynth script I wrote to mix the above video, with fade-in and fade-out. I loaded it with MeGUI to produce the MP4 to upload to Vimeo:

V1=FFVideoSource(".\00013.mts",colorspace="yv12"). Fadein(20,0).Fadeout(20,0) #Jitneys
A1=FFAudioSource(".\00013.mts").Fadein(20,0).Fadeo ut(20,0)
V2=FFVideoSource(".\00018.mts",colorspace="yv12"). Fadein(20,0).Fadeout(20,0) #Jitneys
A2=FFAudioSource(".\00018.mts").Fadein(20,0).Fadeo ut(20,0)
V3=FFVideoSource(".\00014.mts",colorspace="yv12"). Fadein(20,0).Fadeout(20,0) #Jitneys
A3=FFAudioSource(".\00014.mts").Fadein(20,0).Fadeo ut(20,0)
V4=FFVideoSource(".\00015.mts",colorspace="yv12"). Fadein(20,0).Fadeout(20,0) #eggs
A4=FFAudioSource(".\00015.mts").Fadein(20,0).Fadeo ut(20,0)
V5=FFVideoSource(".\00016.mts",colorspace="yv12"). Fadein(20,0).Fadeout(20,0) #meat
A5=FFAudioSource(".\00016.mts").Fadein(20,0).Fadeo ut(20,0)
V6=FFVideoSource(".\00017.mts",colorspace="yv12"). Fadein(20,0).Fadeout(20,0) #stalls
A6=FFAudioSource(".\00017.mts").Fadein(20,0).Fadeo ut(20,0)
Audiodub(V1,A1)++Audiodub(V2,A2)++Audiodub(V3,A3)+ +Audiodub(V6,A6)++Audiodub(V4,A4)++Audiodub(V5,A5)
#Trim(24,0) # delete the first 24 frames, audio padded # inactivated
# or trimmed to match the video length.
#Trim(1,1000) #only process the first 1000 frames #inactivated
#Lanczos4Resize(960,540) #inactivated
Levels(0, 1.4, 255, 16, 235, coring=false) # this is the same as ColorYUV(levels="PC->TV") with Gamma=1.4

Yes, the Cineform codec is fantastic for editing on Windows.

Virtually no quality loss.

Plus, the codec makes it very unlikely that audio and video will lose synchronization.

I love it.

I use both Sony Vegas and MAGIX.

Note: I've found that with MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 14 PLUS, it's important to UNCHECK the "internal avi import" box in the program settings *before* importing the Cineform movies into the timeline; if that isn't done, the video can appear to be pure black on the timeline.
