4 weeks ago Aldi Germany offered a Medion Camcorder that looks exactly the same:
http://www.digital-zoom.de/article5328.html

It was not the same as the Praktica DVC 5.2 FHD as it supports as maximum resolution 1280 x 720 (720p). Before buying the camera please take a closer look at the package if it states 1080p as recording resolution!

Hi sonny84,

did you recompress the video or is the .avi at vimeo the original file from the camera? I think it's like the 720p mode from the Praktica, too little data rate (4 mbit/s) so it smears out details, mainly in the dark areas. The 1080p mode with 8 mbit/s which the Praktica offers retains more details. The audio is 11kHz mono compressed with MS ADPCM on the clip made with the Medion camera, while the Praktica records stereo (well, a little at least) with 48kHz and compresses that with 128kbit/s in AAC.

Two new samples, using a real (but cheap) tripod.

This helps stabilizing the footage, and the clips look better.

Great, the camera works the same as the Toshiba models, too! According to this thread: http://forums.steves-digicams.com/hy...n-options.html you need to press the "return" button (the most bottom one on the back) and the zoom knob to the right to see the firmware version.

My camera has following firmware info:
7020A8392L-A03
D54F-Pentacon-9L-PAL
081007-0440
Thu Oct 16 23:34:03 2008

That A03 indicates probably that it uses the Ambarella generation 3 chipset.

No, you can't use it directly as a webcam. You'd need a TV card where you plug-in the tv-out-cables that ship with the camera. Then you could capture the image from the tv card which can be used by some programs as "webcam input".

On my Toshiba P30 hiden firmware page says:

7020A8374L-A03
D34T-Toshiba-7L-PAL
SDK33-081112.0629
Mon Dec 1 10:57:09 2008.

Seems to be a little newer than yours. Do you have Motion Detection option?

No, the Praktica has no motion detection - that differs from the Toshiba cameras. Though your P30 is quite different from the DVC 5.2 form-wise: http://www.testberichte.de/p/toshiba...stbericht.html

It looks like the Aiptek AHD700 (GVS), not like the Camileo H20. That could explain some of the differences in the Firmware information, too, I think!

My P30 also has no motion detection. So it seem to be similar firmware-wise.
