I again at a glance looked at the Z EYE 8. and Just said. well is it worth $180.00 I may wait till it reachs Bestbuy.

I Did purchase acamera today, and was lucky, to be the last of its LOWEST price, when others are now higher, and the same as the kodak, but this is no kodak.

SInce I have to wait, I think I will make you wait.

Fair is fair.

If I can I will live talk to kodak, see if they'll allow me to beta-test. but hey letssee.

My two Kodak Zi8s are supposed to arrive today.

I had to order two remote control units separately and I'm not sure when those will arrive.

It will be interesting to test them.

Private, General Pai.. I mean Wayne here, remember to test the 720p60 mode for actual datarate and all manually settable controls, and don't forget, if the hdmi port is live before compression.. Over and out private..

Please for footage too

But wont that just confuse people, they might think the camera is just a fancy handle for the microphone

(or am I thinking of a much larger Rode microphone)

I am curious though, does anybody make microphones that work between the 96-129db signal top noise ration range, and at 44khz-96khz upper frequency?

Got the cameras.

But I've only had time to charge them.

ALSO bought two Tekkeon TekCharge MP1800s:

http://www.tekkeon.com/products-tekcharge1800.html

Charging the MP1800s has been a pain as Tekkeon has shipped newer models that don't ship with accurate instructions for charging.

The instructions say turn the POWER switch ON.

For the newer models, that's WRONG.

The POWER switch must be turned OFF or the unit will never get a full charge and the charging light will never shine GREEN.

I've wasted two days confirming this with Tekkeon's tech support.

But these two units should work to give me plenty of shooting time with the Zi8s.

I'll report back when I get time to test.

.
Don't the Zi8 have the KLIC-7004 Li-ION batteries that are used in my v1073 Kodak? I charge them out of the camera in about 2 hours (the Chinese chargers are 600ma, it is a 1050mAh battery). I bought several spares (the Kodak brand has higher capacity than the 3rd part brands) for about $20, and carry them in my pocket whenever using the camera. They are so small and light
.
Here is a supplier with a 99.9% feedback rating, and 10 years in the business, that I buy from fairly regularly:

Yes, the Kodak's each came with a battery, but I'm not sure how long they last and I have a major project coming up where I'll not be able to change batteries... hence the Tekkeons.

Extremely busy at work these days.

They last about an hour in my V1073. The Kodak FAT Filesystem has usually overflowed by then (2Gb and 4GB) unless I am recording at pretty low quality.

That is the big advantage of AVCHD -Lite in my new Panny ZS3. It keeps recording until the (90 minute) battery dies, and by that time the output files seamlessly grow to around 8 GB. But the AVCHD-Lite does need special tools to get it into my editors
