Default Aiptek GVS as webcam?

on one of the youtube video's fishycomics shot he goes into the manufacturer's menu where you can turn on the MP3 player and above that is something that says PC cam. my question is for those who own the aiptek action hd gvs if this is turned on is it possible to use the GVS as a web camera?

Yes i did it but as it is sometimes "try and error" did not work for now. maybe i will test it again next week i think it has also to do with drivers which needed.

dont know now, more later after testing.

Another Day another Test.

After i connect the Cam to the Computer on the Screen from the Cam "TestProgramm Mode (V5Z5S)" is shown and on the Screen from the Computer under Windows XP he is searching for Amba Simple Class.

Hmm now i am searching what that all means.

News: I found out that Amba Cam Option in Firmware has to do with that Company http://www.ambarella.com/
or they kidding us and mean the java applet amber cam.

So for now i think they will include the Feature in Future Firmware or they would but did not.

Next step:
I acitvated the point "PCCAM" in the Firmware and made a reboot. Now when i pug in the USB Cable i can select between two Points "Disk" and "PCCam". When i select Disk i can copy my files to the Computer, when i select PCCam a Live Picture is shown on the Camscreen but nothing on the Computer.

So i think we need drivers for that, may i test older drivers from an Aiptek HD which i could use as Webcam.

it says .......Test....
and when loaded with the usb and connected , some other file was mentioned.

It is missing software, to the firmware, that allows the Pc cam to work. Guessing in thenearfuture we'll have that opertunity to once again own a pc base 5-n-1 cam

Yes thats true Fishycomics, but i dont or may never give up when i can go such deep in a device.

I dont think Aiptek will do this for this Cam in the Future, i think a new one will come to the market. When is Christmas? Right, just a few weeks away. This one is too old for Firmware Updates and Software or Driver for + Webcam. I hope not, but i think so.

Will see, i will investigate and search through the Firmware. I like that

When one digs, they find themselves covered in.... so be careful not to mess inside the cams interior firmware.
when a 5-n-1again is called for they'll sell it.

Chinavision.com may have the pc webcam feature, they have the interpolated 8 megapixal model

I searched a few times across the firmware and had some mistakes and errors and sometimes the Cam dont work anymore. but i find also a reset function in the firmware for going back to start. so testing is good, backup is necessary. :-)

the only thing what happens after a restart is, that the menu is than in chinese and you need to know how to switch back to your language you prefer.
