Default Camera for digiscoping wildlife (still & motion)

I am a intermediate level bird watcher. I would like to take photos and video through my spotting scope's eyepiece. What would you recommend?
I have this bracket on order:

and have been using this scope for about a year...

with this tripod...

I need a light camera with at least 720p HD video and no less than 5MP still. I've had a Fuji Finepix A310 for a good 5+ years now. While it is fine for family snapshots, that's about all it is good for. I may choose a separate camera, for example a co-worker just got the Fuji Finepix S1500 and I think that camera is pretty amazing, considering I paid more for my old A310
