I guess the upcoming Zi8 performance is so good that they want to clear out all stock of the old model Interesting...

Yes the Z i 6 misses the opticals what is aweful, the price so high. other models costs a lot less. especially todays times. more more the price rises and less, less you get.

amny say digital zoom is terrable, but as in a HD720 or higher its equiivant to a optical of a vga model

Ifyou have 8x digital that will be a 3x zoom al you'll ever need.
we tendto use thedigital wit hthe optical and woble effect occurres, the shakes distortion but hey. as longas you got the pic, can make it out the deal is done.

Fishy,
I just bought a Panny ZS3 with a 25mm wide angle and 12x optical zoom. The zoom really rocks, losing only one f-stop from wide to full tele

http://www.steves-digicams.com/camer...s3-review.html

Recording format is 720p AVCHD Lite (although I am still struggling to demonstrate the 60fps capability), it will record continuously until the battery dies at about 100 minutes

It has EV exposure compensation and manual white balance on video. Also I can shoot video to to a max ISO of 800, 1600 or 6400 ASA. Pretty noisy at 6400 ASA, but what the heck, you get a video

The lens has significant distortion at wide angle, but it is compensated digitally so everything looks like the lens is perfect. But when you get a vertical CCD streak, the streak is warped into an arc by the camera lens-correction software

The manufacturers are finally finding the sweet spot, IMO.

Congrads on your camera.

gets toughereach tme a new model comes out changing the way a hybrid looks. 5-n-1 camcorder/stills/voice/mp3player/pc cam/
I bet it givesa run for the money with the cancon is780 series.

same concept I do not like viewing from the back and doing a tut without seeing the screen, I have to mark my terrortory when near off screen LOL

I think the zi6 uses a lot higher data rate for 720p60. I went to a sports carnival and birds flew past, and appeared as rectangular blocks. The 720p60 mode on many cameras is poor, so would be interesting to see how the Kodak did. We only have the waterproof model in shops here, and apparently the zi6 is better. Still the question is, is the zi8 the same as the new RCA model?

You can have your drunken jellovision 1080p30 ,
until it gets 1080p50/60, I am still interested in 720p60.
