I presumed it was shot at 60fps and slowed down to 30fps and doubling the time played. 1 sec to 2 sec ratio, or you can push it to 1 to 4 ratio and reduced the frame rate to 15fps, but at that rate you may get stuttering of the slow mo video

Are you talking about using some special software to do this?

or is there a way to actually make the zi8 do this on its own?

or a function in the MI software that I don't know about?

The video posted was silky smooth... unfortunately, I did not bookmark it and I can not find it anymore, audio of the video was in some foreign language (Russian?)...

Funy most my vids are 60 fps rendered to 29.97fps and that is actual life . If it were slowed down you be going the oposite direction right 120fps

Could this possibly be that video?

Zi8 handheld skate test
shows how good the EIS actually is, and the footage is very good looking......
(however there are parts that are a bit jumpy - but that might just be more pronounced camera movement)

yes there is free software for the Mac, can't remember the name. I have to research it, i use it for my Casio EX-F1 to slow my high speed videos down from 300fps to 450fps or push to 600fps, I get a ratio of 1 to 15 (20).

Max I found the program. It's called JES, here is the link.
http://www.xs4all.nl/~jeschot/home.html

Once you launch the program goto the "Project" option, you will see a "deinterlace" field change to "standard conversion" there is a option of movie speed and fps. I can't remember what settings need to be changed, but I believe there is a procedure to slow video down.

This obviously isn't that slow-mo Zi8 video -
but it's pretty good,
in the comments someone asked what software was used -
the reply was the one that came with the Zi8.......
