fishycomics seemed skeptical about it.

here it worked like a charm so beside the fact you go into the secret menu to be able to initiate the downgrade I dont think theres a real risk BUT dont let me talk u into it since then you will hold me responsible if it fails
It is your own choice and risk !

Hm, i wonder if the .img is a standard image...then we load our own custom image with programs or something.

btw - windows does not automatically run autorun executables on USB devices...

i found a registry key entry to disable CD autorun only and allow USB autorun. so no downgrade needed.

BTW, I dont understand why people want to downgrade, isn't fw1.06 the best?

you twist my words. I don't say you should downgrade firmware for usage. Just to be able to upgrade again and then leave out the img file

I could have told u that registry entry but your question looked like you wanted to keep the autorun ON and still wanting to not let the cam open up 2 windows (caused by autorun.inf on the cd-rom letter)

I know what you meant, I didn't misunderstand you

Now I'm just curious to know why people want to downgrade

okay sometimes a new firmware has a bug that the old one didn't have or misses out features or changes in the UI (user interface) that people don't like. An example of this: I bought a HD mediaplayer and I downgraded because in the new firmware youtube videos are blocked (at googles request) and in the old it still works

I see.
Hope the video darkening at half zoom (except in 1080p) will be fixed in 1.07. Also, why can't we zoom in macro mode!

Default Rolling shutter?

Is this an example of rolling shutter?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=md4PDr7688o

The Zi8 was rubber-banded to a gps mount on the windshield. When not moving and idling it seems the car vibration caused problems with the Zi8's image stabilization. After the car starts moving, the rolling shutter(?) stops.

EDIT: Here's a movie of my drive home after work (12x speed) @WVGA resolution.

I have noticed that when I talk a bit loud and close to the built-in mic, it does something similar...just not that noticeable.
