Just got my lenses today!!!
I just tried it on, quick review of my lens:

2x telephoto
Pros:
2x Optical Zoom!
2x optical + 4x digital = 8x combined zoom
Quick attach and detach
Real glass and brushed aluminum body.

Cons:
Doubles the focus length
Slight vignette in all modes except 1080p

Wide Angle/Macro
Pros:
0.67x wide angle useful for everyday normal filming
Quick attach and detach
Real glass and brushed aluminum body
Macro lens lets you get about 2cm from subject

Cons:
Macro lens has a really shallow depth of view, about +-5mm.

Conclusion:
These lens fit PEFECTLY. It's like they were designed for the Zi8. I suggest peeling off the black ring that says f/2.8 or whatever and applying the magnetic ring directly onto the glass. It's more secure in case the black ring falls off.

2x isn't as much as I thought, but still better than digital.

The macro lens is impressive, but has a shallow depth of view.
wide angle is good if filming in 1080p.

For filming in tight spaces, a fisheye lens would be more useful. I will order one.

Hi - new poster here... would love any advice all of you experts have. I bought the zi8 last week. It has the 1.06 firmware on it. Every still picture I have taken has been completely blurry - very like pixelated. Indoor or outdoor. The videos frankly arent really any better - not blurry but not clear. I had the zi6 (just sold it) and frankly it did MUCH better.

I spoke with kodak today for over 1 hr with their philippines office which was basically a waste - they wanted to redo the firmware saying that it had to be a mistake but no matter what they tried it didn't work.

Any ideas before I return the camera? I appreciate any help ya'all can provide.

Is the macro switch on or off?

Is it blurry on the camera? TV? Or only your computer?
Blurry on all video modes?

macro off - the top switch i assume you mean - it's on the mountain - i've also tried pics with the macro on for closeups and the same thing.

the woman on the phone said the cameras always ship with 1.03 yet mine had 1.06 - i downgraded to 1.05 but that didn't seem to help.

i'd love to see a still picture from the camera that hasn't been resized to see what others are seeing.
