no it's a new tv - hitachi 42" lcd hdtv - it plays 1080p on any other device, is rated for 1080p, etc... only the kodak zi8 plays as 1080i

plugged in with the supplied hdmi cable that came with the zi8

the tv is more than capable of playing back 1080p

i just don't believe that the kodak zi8 plays true 1080p from it's mini-hdmi port....

was hoping to see if someone else has this problem - i've only found a few people so far who have this problem on amazon's website, under a review of the zi8

we all have very good tv's - but the zi8 won't play full 1080p on them...

has anyone else tried to play via the hdmi to confirm?

otherwise, it's no big deal, was just curious as it plays fine otherwise, and when i transfer via the usb or the sd card it plays the full 1080p on the computer - my tv does not have an sd card slot to test that

thanks guys!

edit:
basically the zi8 records 1080p - it just does not seem to play 1080p - it only plays 1080i
just looking for others to confirm

kodak zi8 plays with HDMI on TV , thank you

now My set is a Vizeo I just tried it on, I am sure it is hd1080P I plug to port 1 of hdmi , turn on, set to hdmi port 1 and says

"retrieving" cam shows playback mode.

no where does it say hd1080I or P
Does that help you out.

the way i see what the tv is playing, is my tv on the remote has an "info" button - that tells you the info of what's on screen, such as the quality, fps, whether it's hd, sd, etc... size, etc.... - some tv's don't have this feature, but mine does....

anyone else?

thanks again!

Downtown Disney, used the Kodak zi8 from afternoon to evening, enjoy the video.

Carols are being made and compared with the Aiptek.

Hands down the Kodak is the winner due to Sound is by superior on the kodak, handeling amplified systems, if you ask me I'll justdirect youto the video LOL. soon to come
