Default New HD Thumb camera DOD VR-H2 (bike mountable).

http://www.dod-tec.com/dm.php?prod=product.jpg

Quote:
Camera CMOS camera
Board Size 18mm x 45mm single board
Storage media micro SD Card support SDHC
Support capacity Max 32GB
File Format AVI
Video resolution 1280 x 1024 @ 30 fps
Video compression MJPEG
Audio Specification 16-bit, 8kHz
Audio Compression ADPCM
Photo resolution 1280 x 1024
Battery capacity 300 ~ 500mAH
No picture of a LCD, and has flashing light, so probably not for the faint hearted.

Notice that it uses MJPEG so otherwise very big video files sizes, or low quality (MJPEG vs ambarella based h264 = 4-6+ bigger file sizes per second for the same quality.

Please also note that audio quality is low.

Pity it did not have video LCD, 60fps, and stereo 41Khz audio. We could expect somebody to design an ambarella based competitor in future for the same size, until then this maybe unique.

What most people don't realize is that I am involved with a project to design a new consumer electronics platform, and sometimes I think about designing my own camera based on it, but do not wish to get sidetracked on it. However, I could design something simular to this in a postage stamp size with that platform, and even much smaller, but I am not interested in helping people spy on other people. I however wonder about this product. I know that Micron (that designs many of the sensors used in the cameras around here) have very simplistic complete camera in a modules. I wonder if this has something like that inside.

By the looks of the Female that cam is no bigger then her thumb, so there be no lcd old or a screen what so ever, and they show only the front and sides, even on confige.

1280x1024 resolution , vid/still. that ratio is off not 16:9, or is it 4:3.

avi format forsound that is a great improvement over .wav.

the sd card is MICRO, not standard. so tht tells you this is a tiny unit.

this cam is a very very basic, I cannot imagine the price higher then 69.00.
As there should be some online samples soon , I say

P A S S

5.3 cm long, around half of what the other ones are I think (they quote the board but case would be 5.3cm) . For my projects I have been thinking of buying an OLED display that would also fit this product (but battery drain) so it is possible to make something like this with display for framing and reviewing).

I am interested in getting one myself, I am returning a voice recorder that was missing it's custom USB cable, but I did not know if it will be available here and I would need at least a LCD on this to keep track of tracks. Maybe I should have considered doing a product like this, I can see good demand, but it is what people would want it for that is the problem.

Went to look for a seller and found that we have hit the top of the list again:

http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=e...meta=&aq=f&oq=

It looks like there is a 1080p version (or some more confusion):

http://dod-tec.manufacturer.globalso...DVR-Camera.htm

And look here, there is a 720p30 actual pen camera, finally:

I'd love to get these cheap and rip it apart to find out the parts numbers in it, but I may never get one over here let alone all of them.

Wow full HD in such a small device. Not that it's not possible but something tells me it's hardware interpolated to 1920x1080 from either 1280x720 or lower resolution as it's cheaper. Another thing is which you mentioned, one cannot completely rely on these chinese specs/info, as often they are contradicting or incorrect.

This pen appears to be available from the same supplier I ordered my DOD_F200 from:

http://shop.esino.hk/spy-cameras/184...eo-camera.html

$33.99 with free shipping looks like a pretty exceptional deal. Has anybody found the PDF manual for it?

SportActionCam,

Fishy did a review of the DOD F200. Look for a sticky thread with the camera name. I think the VR-H2 just got released in Asia, so maybe that's why we cannot find it elsewhere yet. Also I don't think that DOD is the OEM of this product and therefore could turn up branded with other names.
