frank8945: I thought the photography and colors were great. But, the resolution was poor, not really HD. Did you transcode the original mov files? If so, what did you do exactly. For example, the fur on the dog and the heads in the crowd were very pixelated, as was the dog when it moved.

Hi, I made the clip with "Media Impression" and uploaded to Utube. The original clip file was 231mb and looked a bit better. I also have "Adobe Premiere Element 4", I will try using that next time, If you have any info on how to make my clips look better let us know.

The Zi8 is a strange beast, sometimes the clips are really crisp with lots of detail and other times its just ok I shoot in 720p at 60fps.
cheers mate

Default Kodak zi8 macro mode

OK, my turn. First, macro mode using 720p, 60fps. The first frames are low-light, then outdoors for late fall shots.

This was edited in Windows Live MovieMaker. Then the 720p, 30fps wmv file was uploaded to Youtube from Youtube.

I will next have a 1080p macro shoot (now that YouTube does 1080p) and a link to the Vimeo version of the above for comparisons.

Default More Macro mode: 1080p and Vimeo link

Here is the Vimeo link to the 720p video:

Now, the YouTube link to the 1080p video:

BTW, you may want to pay attention to the audio. The sounds are as recorded by the camera, and evoke the natural scene. Because the Zi8 does not use audio autoleveling, the sound is very natural (no hissing or pumping). You will hear in the distant background: an airplane, trucks, an infant crying, a dog bark, and birds chirping. If this were done with almost any other consumer or prosumer camera, the audio would be pumped up and the naturally low-level outdoor sound would be deafening, and annoying. This may be why most people dump the audio track and replace it with, well, annoying music!

Default Performance at night with colored lights, two cities

Shows ability of Zi8 to get good shots of lights at night, even if the lights blink and change colors. Deep blacks, vivid colors and good motion under very low light. New York and Geneva. Original is significantly smoother than on Vimeo or Youtube, not noticeable that all shots are hand-held.

same original for both - is one better?
