Default Aiptek GVS autofocus not working now

The autofocus on my Aiptek GVS decided to stop working for thanksgiving. Now if I open the camcorder I just get a continuous clicking sound. This continues even when closing the LCD so I have to pull the battery. Anyone else had this? In anycase it looks like it's back to Aiptek under warranty. Oh well.

RGVcam, keep us posted.

Hope Will, was not your C.S. person, and Ray or Trevor was. Send in a record sheet of exactly what you have, with proof, pics, etc, as if accedently something goes missing.

Lets Hope the Holiday mail does not slow down the delievery, nor theHoliday delay the repairs.

Estimated time of Repair from start to finish, 4 weeks. Let others know theextent you're on the West coast and 3 days quicker , will be just that.

Well so far haven't received a reply, but it's early so can't fault them for that. I just hope they reply today so I can send it off Monday at least. Yeah Xmas Period, not the best time for things to break but what can you do?

With Canon all they wanted was the actual Camera minus any battery etc. So I will see if Aiptek does the same. Canon actually sent back my original camera, but I have a feeling Aiptek may send a refurb, who knows. If they do I just hope they really do full test them as I don't want one with defective sensor pixels!

Had to pay my own shipping although I am assuming they'll ship it back under their own cost. When you had yours repaired did they pay shipping?

Just got my replacement Aiptek GVS this evening. They just said 'replacement' so no idea if it's refurbished or another unit. Tested it for dead pixels and so far looks good. It already has the latest 2901 firmware so no need to reflash. Will test it out properly perhaps at the weekend.
