Default Looking for Point and Shoot camcorder

Im off to a few concerts this summer and I am looking to purchase a flash cam. I have read a lot about two in particular, the Aiptek A-HD+ and the Kodak Zi8. The main reason I chose these two is they allow external mics. However they also seem to be among the best.

I only have a couple of requests, 1. I want one of these flash cams that have little or no rolling shutter, if possible of course. 2. AA batts would be great. I need more than an hours batt length. Most of the concerts i will be attending will be multiple day, and honestly Id love AA batts. 3. and final while it doesnt have to be 1080p Id like it to be decent image quality. (it doesnt even need 720p, im not filming the concerts, just us tailgating in parking lots, so I dont need exceptional video quality.)

Anyone have any recommendations? Id love to spend less than 200. Thanks

what you said sounds like you need a voice recorder.

1 a-HD+ no ext mic

2. over a hour both does just that.

3 rolling shutter . are present on both what a bummer

I do not get commission.

for what you mention, the Zi8 is the one reason ext stereo mic abd option for add'l power

ac/dc plug accepts outside power sources so you get yourself a aa pkg. under accessorries they sell it. at kodak.

read the topics ofthe stickie kodak zo8.
unless you mentto say Aiptek GVS, stand clear over blown sound

The Aiptek Action HD GVS and the Kodak Zi8 are the two best hybrids due to their ability to accept external microphones.

Rolling shutter, however, is something that is pretty much a fact of life for sub-$200 hybrids. I recommend use of a tripod to overcome that problem.

The Kodaks have a limiter to the sound. while the Aiptek will just distort further and further.

same for the A-HD+ as well all Aipteks and others.

The Kodak definitely has superior audio, especially for loud environments. Trying to record a concert on an Aiptek will likely just turn out a crackly distorted mess, while the Kodak will produce good audio in loud environments, especially if you turn down the microphone gain. (The Zi8 and Playsport are the only pocket camcorders to offer a manual mic gain adjustment.)
