so why would a Sony product be shown taken apart?

I think it is because theywant to sel you what is not Sony.

I be happy to sell you that , and even give you a new one for that price if anythinggoes wrong,, you say a cheap mic ,and they sell for 5.00 shipped!

Why do they go for $30 on Amazon if they're bad?

Stunt, there are a number of threads around here that talk about which microphone etc, and on the zi8. Fishy probably remembers them better than me.

Microphones are one area where you might be able to get increased quality in on line hosting. Does youtube have descent sound? Sound requires a lot less datarate, so I would not be surprised if there are hosting services out there that have good sound. In this case a better microphone setup might make for much better sound on a noisy conference floor.

Guys.

Got my camera and other peripherals in the mail a few days ago.

There's one more thing I'll need: a tripod. I need it to be at least five feet. I'm finding this on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Deluxe-Camera-...5936472&sr=8-2

Never heard of the brand. Called up my local Best Buy and they've got a 60" tripod for $38.99.

Which should I buy? I'm worried about the $15 tripod as I don't want it breaking down on me.

Remember that if you want to mount a camera on a tripod to record a static event, that anything less than 6ft in height will have people's heads walking in front of the lens all the time...
