Default Just Tested The New iPhone Camcorder...

...because my brother bought one.

The camcorder function is great.

Nice colors.

Very good low-light performance.

You can touch your finger to a square on the screen to tell the camcorder where to focus.

Very high quality device.

I'm going to wait for the iPod Touch version of this camcorder and then I'm going to pull the buy trigger.

How about you take a video and upload it to YouTube so that we can see?

I'll try to pry it out of my brother's hands.

He's hardly ever not using it.

I'm getting one this week -- I'll try to post some footage comparing it to my Sanyo Xacti HD1010.

I played with my brothers a bit and it was pretty nice -- an iPod touch version with be nice but you would still be missing optical zoom, external mic in, etc.

Stlll for a camera that is always with you it's pretty good.

Actually, I think there would be an opportunity for external microphone input.

In two ways:

1. Bluetooth wireless microphones (very likely to come next)

Sony already offers certain types of Bluetooth microphones:

2. Microphones that can plug directly into the iPhone's socket.

Here's an article about that:

So... external microphones can be used with the Apple iPhone 4 camcorder.

EOSHD.com has just posted info about a hack for manual control of the iPhone camera at:

http://www.eoshd.com/content/282-New-iPhone-4-hack

The video there is worth looking at. It seems the sensor clarity is excellent, with the recording resolution limited by the lenses in use.
