Default New! Kodak Zi10 Playtouch

Kodak's new Zi10 Playtouch soon to be released. It's on pre-order in german and UK netshops at around 200 euros, but will hopefully get a pricedrop soon after release. Check Kodak's homepage for more info.

Going to be available in chrome, orange, petrol and black.

This is all I could find regarding the specs.

• 5.0 megapixels CMOS
• Recording media: built-in memory, SD/SDHC
• Video resolution: (1920x1080)
• Picture resolution: JPEG
• 4x digital zoom
• digital image stabilizer
• 3.0" touchscreen TFT colour display
• 128MB built-in memory
• SD card slot (SDHC compatible)
• Connectors: USB 2.0
• Li-Ion battery (KLIC-7004)
• Dimensions (WxHxD): 58x15x109mm
• Weight: 100g

I presume it's the same 1 / 2.5-type 5MP CMOS sensor as used in the Zi8. Only big differences I see is the screen, LED light(I'm not sure, but looks like an LED light infront next to the lens) and size of the device itself. A 3.0" touchscreen sounds nice but is it useable? The menusystem would have to have a makeover to work easy. It would be nice if it also had a touch-focus function, but I guessing it doesn't as it probably has same fixed-focus lens as Zi8. The device is smaller than the Zx3 Playsport.

Hopefully more detailed specs will be available soon. Till then, what do you guys think so far? Is the Zi10 the successor of the Zi8 or...?

It will be interesting to find out if they had enough smarts to include the Zi8's external microphone input. If they forgot that, then I won't be upgrading.

Do you have a link?

I would add this to my collection.

A P.I stated Ext mic, as you stated L.E.D. light or is it a remote sensor for the controls

by looking at the only pic. the side is a on/off, the top has some type of button, and that is your ext mic port( hoping) an the macro/infinity switch is there

Yeah it seems there's something at the right side on top. Either small button or could be a 3.5mm mic-in(I'm crossing my fingers).

I actually quite like the design of the Zi10 Play Touch compared to the Zi8. I wonder how the front looks like?

I remember when Kodak couldn't decide what to name the Zi8 so they had a contest. Well this time they had no problems deciding, I guess. They just add two to the current model number. Zi6, Zi8 and now Zi10. Zx1 and then Zx3 with the addition of the Playsport name. Now we have the Playtouch.

A dutch gadget site claims the Zi10 has mic-in. See link below for google translated page in funny english and a thumbnail pic of the back.

As the website stated yes, it has. It is not for us previous owners worth the purchase. as I already own a Samsung Hmx-U10 and can tell you if it is thesame type touchscreen good luck on cold humid days it will not work. and taking your gloves off trying is a load of laughs.

For the new comers you probably going to have a newer designed body that will tip over like the two otehr flawed models, one leans back, the other foward. it has a nice body design, added 3 foot light that only and ONLY captures anything before 3 feet.

WHy offer a L.E.D. flash light, and not a Actual strobe light. I stick to my Dod f200 4 led one.

never saying its a bad cam. trust me I owned wuite a few to point these the good, the bad, and the ugly out.
