always leave room for margin. So when you see that cam .

There are no issues with the zx-5, or is there.

Kodak would NEVER release flawed cams they are a family company.

We are very picky when we already are owners of previous models reasons. When new we are excited, taken in by the proformance. And when we are setteled in. New cam comes out, we grab, repeat process over.

Now we thin twice, why do I need the same camera, diffrent style same exact features. Nothing but the body changed, and then we pick pick pick.

Oh it now has auto focus zoom or do we call that fixed auto focus zoom. Neve will I buy a auto focus with no optical zoom, that is an example.

Kodak could have said , or taken more time to add features for that amount of money 180.00 missing auto focus lok or manual focus..

For today some cmaeras offer hd1080p60I or p and within a budget. And still hidden interpolation and limite features like no zoom while record, or pause record, the cams became expensive for other reason. Mother nature to economical crunch.

Why some will buy what their budget allows.
heres where I got that about the zx5

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Kodak+-+...ustomerreviews

Correct, too basic, you pay for simplicity.

As for the review on Bestbuy. probably the purchaser , did not know that kodak.com already had a release with Firmware to correct that issue.

Nor was it marked in a Note on the box.

Will Kodak ever listen NOPE, a simple paper stating Please make sure you update firmware due to our rush job

Aiptek included a AF lock, Aiptek included a paper noting. to follow proceedures. but it is a common mistake we take for granted , and overlook the obvious.

Kodak tends to have early teething problems -
the Zx5 is still relatively "new" for Kodak -
and as you have seen yourself - there are some problems.

I am sure there are some who are quite happy with their Zx5 - but there are enough posting issues to ignore.

Personally I prefer not to have to pay Kodak to be their field tester - and wait until the issues have been addressed and solved.

Meanwhile the older PlaySport Zx3 has impressed - just take for example ConsumerSearch.com where they review the reviews - ie: survey the available reviews, rate them and come to some consensus (kind of what I would logically do if I had the resources and time) - the Kodak Playsport Zx3 is their pick of pocket HD Camcorders.

Similarly Zx3 was picked at the very detailed CamcorderInfo.com - as the Best Ultracompact camcorder at CamcorderInfo.com 2010 Selects Awards

Another well worth considering is the Kodak Zi8 $69 shipped re-certified refurbish by Kodak - the Zi8 is regarded by many as producing the best video for a pocket HD camcorder - and that includes our own Fishy....

Check out these videos:

kodak play touch full review part three
may seems strange to cite fishycomics' review of the newer Kodak PlayTouch Zi10 - but this footage was shot with the Zi8 - fishycomics mentions it at around 3:22-3 watch it in 720p to appreciate how good the actual video is. Sound? using a fake Sony stereo mic

Zi8 handheld skate test
shows how good the EIS actually is and the footage again is very good looking......

Correct.

you want to compare Apple to oranges., then it wil be harder to choose

Do you go in the water. then you get that model

do you like doing news casting then you get that. the list goes on and on

which is better, the choice is clear.

I don't think Kodak has been able to top the Zi8s Video Quality with any of its recent models. The Zi8 is a unique model with unique video quality, unsurpassed by any of their new video cameras. There simply isn't any competition for it.

Well I say if money is no object Sanyo's are just way better. Kodaks are good for what they are, especially the Playsport but based on pure video quality, Sanyo is better, for another $50 or so. Plus Playsport 1080P mode has the jelly effect, you have to hold very still or have it on a tripod, otherwise nearly unbearable to watch, 720P 60fps however is perfectly fine. Makes me wonder if EIS even works in 1080P mode.

remembering that most thre Kodak Models are quicktime.mov mpeg-4 format. when you're comparing this against a quicktime.mp4-mpeg-4 vs quicktime.mov mpeg-4 I am sure there will be greater differences.

the Zi8 yes will be the better product line for Kodak. and Sad to see it to be dropped. does a gret Job. holds its ground, and no matter hwat we'recomparing to , there wil lalways be better and worse cams..

Does Sanyo make a Celltype cam, or do they make a Pistol type cam.?

People may want cell type, over pistol type. or the other way round.

I did not like cell type at all, till I bit that bullet, to get one, and it was the Kodak zi8, ever since then I liked it. still preferre a swival screen for ALL angles.

Hi Fishey, they appear to have 3 pistol grips, the CS1, CG20, and CG102 all generally same specs. I've seen them all in person and they should fit snug in your pocket. I've tested the GH4 (football grip) and video is awesome, seems to have same specs as these pistol grip ones so I'm guessing should have same quality.
