Default anyone own a kodak zx5?

i'm thinking of purchasing one after returning the 3rd gen flip. i was wondering if anyone could possibly upload any handy sample videos (raw, unconverted) for me, preferably in 1080p, and if possible a 720p 60fps sample video. preferably daytime outdoor footage. youtube videos just don't cut it for me before purchase. i was really impressed with these (http://www.steves-digicams.com/camer...photos-19.html) samples from the kodak zi8, and i'm hoping the zx5 gives such great results. it would really be appreciated if you have the time.

Caveat first: I do not have a Zx5.

However there have been reports and users' reviews of the Zx5 out there:
Post #26 (link) in new Kodak Playsport Zx5?

There are now a few user reviews on Amazon too.

Kodak are pretty well known for having early teething problems with their new pocket HD camcorders -
and the new PlaySport Zx5 is no exception.

There are complaints its auto-focus is slow - definitely not a good thing -
this might not be able to be addressed with firmware updates -
I certainly would not bank/gamble money on this.

Contrast this with the older model the Zx3 which is now as mature as it can get - since it is being discontinued - but it is the top choice of HD pocket camcorders over at ConsumerSearch.com - who review the reviews - ie: survey the available reviews, rate them and come to some consensus - their Kodak Playsport Zx3 review.

The Zx3 is also the top pick at CamcorderInfo.com 2010 Selects Awards.

It may be discontinued - but the Zx3 is probably as good as it's ever going to get, and it is proven product with now very good reviews and reports.

The Zx3 is based on the Zi8 - but obviously waterproof and more rugged.

Personally I don't like paying to be a field tester for Kodak's new products.
I strongly suggest waiting for Zx5 problems to be fully resolved.

Meanwhile the older Zx3 can be found for less than $86 shipped for used "Like New", or re-certified refurbished by Kodak.

Similarly the Zi8 which you were impressed with, can be found for less than $69 shipped re-certified refurbished by Kodak.

thanks for your reply. i'll take the zx3 into consideration, and i guess i should do the same with the zi8. the reason i lie the zx5 is because of it's stability: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gp-qF_o7IJU

when companies have problems with products like these and can't address issues through firmware upgrades, do they actually release a new model with a different serial number, or do they just sort of sneak it in with us not knowing whether or not we have a newer working version?

also, amazon says the zx5 was first released in jan of 2011. if they're going to fix stuff, i'm sure it would have been by now or never.

Kodak Zx-5 was never released to the public, was in the works of going to a assembly Line .

This is a very hard one to answer -
especially if one suspects them of "sneaking" in an improvement -
a case in point is the Zx3 -
Post #190 in Sticky: Kodak Playsport ZX3 Full review
and then my response in Post #191.

Theoretically the only difference between my sample of the Zx3 and the poster's ought to be the firmware -
yet when the poster upgraded to the latest version FW 1.12 -
they saw red blotches in low light -
but my sample came with FW 1.12,
and I cannot see those red blotches -
and I have done extensive tests at very low light,
since that is an area where I use my HD pocket camcorders a lot.

So either sample variations
or maybe an unannounced hardware improvement?

For Kodak it is still "early days" for any of their products -
sometimes it takes several months to address all of them -
one only has to look at users' reviews at Amazon for the Zx5 (sorted by date newest first)
there are at least 3 on the first page alone, and as recently as May/11 that have serious problems.

BUT it is your decision and your money.
