Maybe i am just expecting for a little to much from a 115 camera. After more tests the focus seems to be worse at 1080. the 720 60fps doesnt look to bad.

I think i will try a few more tests outdoors then make a decision to swap it for another just to be sure.

I think iam just being a bit to picky.

Do you think it would be ever possible to switch af on or off?

Anyway thanks for the great support on this topic.

It's Not an Aiptek Lol. tehy never thought of that or its too basic a point-n-shoot cam.

AF might be able to switch off using firmware -
but from Kodak's track record I would not hold my breath for such an update - unless they are having a lot of issues with AF and losing sales
- think about it do you think Kodak would admit to that?

Personally I much prefer the older now only just discontinued Kodak PlaySport Zx3 - it is as low as $80 used or refurbished. It has a fixed focus lens and was rated very highly

Kodak Playsport Zx3 (link to review) was the pick of Compact HD Camcorders at ConsumerSearch - who review the reviews - ie: survey the available reviews, rate them and come to some consensus - what we would do logically if we had the resources and time.

It was also at CamcorderInfo.com 2010 Selects Awards
the Best Ultracompact Camcorder: Kodak Playsport Zx3

Although the Zx3 may seem "old" -
for Kodak this is an advantage -
as they have had time to iron out any problems.

If you're not happy with the AF of the Zx5 -
which seems quite normal to me, for all the reasons I gave -
then I think you' might be happier with the Zx3.

Good to hear, glad you are now happy with the replacement and it's focusing well for you.

Perhaps for our education you could please repeat the same second set of your tests with the good Zx5 replacement to demonstrate why it's better?

SO I stepped into BB (bestbuy) our local or regional Electronicstore, Corps located in Minnesotta, I believe. and otehr places to. And I bet whoever owns a Cam that did not like it, or forsome reason, like mentioned here. Goes on the Open box list.

For example the Kodak Playtouch on sale this week, for 59.-69 (forgot) and on the open box for 89.99

If it was at 119.99 back on sale the price be correct 89.99

Same was with the Playtouch 119.99 for 90.00 while Online selling new at 80ish.

Be careful you may get a good bargain.

I have two Kodak zx5. The first chamber removes clearly an example http://arthur.winlink.ru/video/100_0304.MP4 Of the second shot slurred left side, the example http://arthur.winlink.ru/video/100_0303.MP4 I sent it to the service center, but Kodak does not recognize the marriage.

I'm not too sure of the translation.

But are you saying the second video ( http://arthur.winlink.ru/video/100_0303.MP4 ) is supposed to show the left side more blurry -
compared with the first video ( http://arthur.winlink.ru/video/100_0304.MP4 ) where it is clear/sharp?

Actually the second video (100_303.MP4) is overall not as sharp as the first video (100_304.MP4) - look at the windows on the right - they do not look as sharp as in the first video.

So I think there was some variation between the focus points of the two videos - this could be caused by faulty AF (AutoFocus) or the AF selecting different part to focus on.

Or if these are from two different samples of the Zx5 - then the lens on the first may be better than the second - or it could just be cleaner?

Again, I own two cameras zx5, shooting is done under the same conditions, the lenses are clean. Here's another example of bad video camera http://arthur.winlink.ru/video/1080=30.MP4

You do realize your posts are translated into English - and it's not a good translation - and I did not want to misunderstand you.

This last video doesn't tell me much - it is not awful - but it is not bitingly sharp either.

However it is not a very good video to show problems - the opening frames have the rooftops and more distance building - this may cause the some difficulties as the camera may not know what to focus on. The panning is a bit too fast, resulting in some pretty choppy/jerky video - this is very hard to judge if anything is blurry or sharp.

If you say: "shooting is done under the same conditions" -
where is the video from the good Zx5 to compare
so we can more clearly see what it is that you are unhappy with?
