The official official press release. Some of the stuff previously was nonsense, like 4kp96, which would have been a buy signal. I don't want $500 4k camera features on a more expensive camera, it needs to be double data rate at least, and 4kp50 for that price. Most of the rest of the really pro features I could give up or take. I did not bite the really low data rate on the GH, and I'm not biting on this.

It's ok for holidays, but less so for a serious enthusiast, the data rate quality we are used to around here from top ambarella hybrid cameras.
The data rate needs to be double, and double the frame rate, and 10 bit+ 4:2:2 4k recording, to be a true top enthusiast camera like this probably aims to be. For a $1000 though, it would be OK, definitely worth buying over the black magic pocket, but not the 4k production if you wanted top 4k video.

I am not Jackson, I do not need 50 4K RED cameras, each for $ 50.000.
They are not 25x better.

Panasonic was first, other will/must follow. Next year EACH camera makes 4K.
Forget Canon 1DC & similar for > $ 10.000.

Just what you get for the price.

Sony and Black Magic have had 4k out, and now Sony has $2000 camcorder too.

Nikon or Fuji has 4k coming, and I assume Sony stills, I think Olympus too. So worth checking out.

Nice. Can we have this on a hybrid?

Hopefully the next video camera will be double as good for not much more. What we really need is a minimum of features and data rate of the $5k Sony on a $1k camera, and double the data rate on a $2k camera. However, a $500 camera with this data rate would be nice.

About data rates, I've miscalculated a little. Redid the calculations over a week ago. It is a little better than I was thinking.

Now, where is that JVC, 30p 4k is not enough.

Donal Duc comes to the rescue again

Any links Donald?

Samsung was a good user of ambarella chip sets before that many cameras here used.
