Yep. that's the one. That's the resolution increasing technique I came up with in the 90's. They call others genius, but I pointed out you could get more resolution to a guy of a top camera company, and gave enough hints and the genius didn't get it and then insisting otherwise. Most of this stuff is embarrassing, I wish fan boys would save the word genius for those that deserve it. Most of this stuff is a straight forward process of refinement with little leaps upwards, not huge leaps sideways or upwards.

Cool, they are playing for keeps, restricting resolution to what's needed for 4k and stills.

But does it do 4k p48 50 or 60, and what data rates, pixel formats and bit depths. Apart from that a pro camera should have pro audio in and full manual controls or alternative, preferably with click auto settings for quick setup. Without these it is a bit of a toy for pro use.

NOW you can see LIVESTREAM of new SONY 4K on

sonyalpharumors

It records 1080p internally in XAVC-S format at 50Mbit but the big news is the support for full 4K output
via HDMI to an external recorder. Unfortunately it does NOT have an internal 4K recording codec like the Panasonic GH4.

Hmm The Kinefinity KineMini 4k apparently starts around $3200.

BMD, releases a number if cameras and dropped the 4k production camera to $2995, but nothing really that we are interested in.

Now something that is interesting, is the 4k Axiom Beta head will be available cheap for testing. However, you have to rig something up cheap for recording, so you are getting back into sub $2000+ modes. So maybe something that can fit in your pocket can be rigged up, though maybe cargo pants pockets.

The Epic trials continue. Being near lots of phone stores yesterday I went to check out tripod mounts for mobile phones and a few other items. Boy, talk about exhausting explaining what it was. You explain what it is, it has tripod legs with the claps around the horizontally mounted phone, and they invariably show you some suction capped thing for car holders. So many foreigners that can barely speak English, and barely think it seems. I told one guy I needed legs for any surface, he insists on going to get a suctioned cup white thing that attaches to glass with great clips around the phone that you could use the clip handles to aim it, apart from thinking, why me again, I said it wouldn't be good for rocks..
