Default Drop in centre for new camera information from existing users.

If existing and new users (maybe even manufacturers) would like to contribute information on new cameras they come across to this sub-forum, maybe even here, it would give a place for people to find out about new cameras.

This used to be a major forum for hybrid camera information. There are still a few users that come here that could contribute, and maybe attract some new users.

So what are we talking about, mainly cheap pocket sized cameras that are primarily a video camera with stills and other functions, called hybrid cameras, often pistol grip style, sometimes little camcorder, and maybe significant small tablets with good video function, and 4k/ultra HD phones (which the industry seems to be moving towards) and 4k/ultra hd sports action camera.

These things are mainly small and fun and seldom high spec (like the Sanyo HD2000 and Canon TX-1 of the old days).

OK, a little chat. Go Pro is said to be looking into mobile phone chip sets. Once one of these can compress their top notch professional cineform raw codec, the whole industry will move up a level. Another development, is that general purpose computing on mobile GPUs is reaching new levels or design that may help encode cineform (the mobile GPUs have been generations behind PC GPUs) and the wait for this level of functionality has been long. Nvidia has announced their next couple of mobile chip sets are moving to their general purpose computing GPU platform. We are now starting to look at no compromise fullhd on lower end hardware. So interesting products might start coming in the next few years.
