Ispan has divided their hybrid listings into separate lists for ccd and cmos cameras. Both list several new hybrids for which they have provided little but the names.

The HDV-8120 has specs posted. Similar to other of their recent vaporcams. It claims to do 1280x720 at 60fps, but there's probably some fudging in that. No mention of an mp3 player, and it saves to .mov files. Even if the hdv claim is exaggerated, it must have a pretty healthy mbps rate.

Originally I entered Digilife's HDV-820 as just that. The next day, the Ispan site called it the HDV-8120. I thought perhaps I had made a mistake. So I edited my post and the entry in the Hybrid List. Today, it's back to being an HDV-820. I'm posting this to cma.

Another day, the HDV-820 is back to being an 8120. Either someone is playing with their website, or Digilife has a staff disagreement about naming the camera.

JVC has a new line of Everios. These are upscale hybrid-like cameras. Very capable. Large. Enough options to make your head spin. No mp3 players!

Specs are posted for a few new Digilife cameras on the Ispan site.

DDV-965: ho hum, nothing new here, move along people. Does not use the NP-60 battery.

DDV-970: Hmm, now here's something interesting. Looks nice. Digilife's first small hybrid with an optical zoom.

DDV-995: A Sony ccd. Not bad. Fast startup time of 2 seconds. They even specified the mbps at 3.6 for both 720x480 and 640x480. Pretty good. If the 970 matches that, I think I may have to get a 970. Assuming these cameras actually show up, and have decent microphones.

Notably none of the 820, 965 and 970 list an mp3 player. Maybe this is just an oversight in the specs, or perhaps Digilife has decided it's not worth including this function. Too bad, I say. The 995, on the other hand, claims a lyrics display with mp3. Enhanced mp3 on one camera and no mp3 on others. Odd.

The Digilife DDV-5300A, which we've been curious to see because it is a more conventional-looking camcorder from Digilife, with an optical zoom and remote mic, is now listed on the Digilife USA site with the current products, rather than the future products. List price is $319usd. It says it has a "CCD (CMOS)" sensor. After all, Digilife are experts on this stuff.

I see the 1100 ($249.95 USD) and the 6120A($319.95 USD) are now also in the current products list.

I checked both Google and eBay yesterday to get some idea of which Digilife cameras are actually for sale, and updated the list. It's hard to tell if these changes on the US site really mean anything. It's also hard to keep track of these easily-overlooked developments. Not hard to check eBay to see what's for sale.

thanks

Specs are posted for the Digilife DDV-992, so I added it to the list. Not a bad camera, nothing remarkable about it, no optical zoom.

Mostly thanks to the observant fishycomics, I've added more hybrids to the List:

Aosta
DV-530
DV-680

Z-cyber
DDV-510
V-Go 2

Digilife
DDV-790

First One Technology, Rhein
DV5024M
DV5024M2
DV5030M
DV6030C
DV7025C
DV7030C
DV7030CG

These Rhein hybrids are interesting, especially the DV7025C, with its 3x optical zoom. The DV502M is an obvious clone of a Digilife camera, hence the Rheins have to be divided into both sections of the Hybrid List.

Specs for the Digilife DDV-795 and 765 are posted. The 795 is a nice looking camera. So similar to the DDV-790 that it makes you wonder why they bothered.

This means specs are posted for all of Digilife's current crop of supposed cameras. Most of these new cameras don't specify that they have mp3 players. It remains to be seen if this is just negligence in posting the features.

So then I look at digilifeglobal.com. A bunch of new cameras with names different from the Ispan names. Some of the seemingly identical cameras have different specs. The DDV-8000 page has pictures of cameras with DDV-1400 and DDV-7000 on them. The DDV-A7000 and DDV-A700 look identical except both variously list using NP60 and 2-AA batteries. What a mess.

I see Digilifeglobal features a DDC-690 dsc. It appears to be a Samsung Digimax i6 with a different case. Almost identical specs, same control layout. (no mp3, no super macro, different battery) Even says it has a Samsung lens. Is Digilife selling a Samsung clone! Or did Digilife make the i6? Pretty strange either way.
