Looking at the specs, the SVP HDDV appears to be a knock off of the Aiptek HDDV 8000, not the 4100.

Excellent, thanks for pointing that out, and I've fixed it.

I'd be quite glad if anyone wants to check which knockoffs are the same as which source cameras, either to verify my info, or to fill in for the cameras I haven't confirmed are copies of which.

Likewise, I appreciate getting info to fill in the gaps in the specs in the Hybrid List. Unless you have something better to do, of course:-)

Thanks for spotting this, morristhecat. I've added it to the Hybrid List, with the specs I was able to glean. Toshiba's entry into this market will add more credibility to the hybrid concept.

btw, I've sorted the knockoffs into alphabetical order, since there are getting to be so many of them, and I'm going to start using "?" in the Hybrid List for missing specs.

Newby here,I got my Microtek 500 @ shop nbc $200 8/19/05. One week later 'busy' stays on and only goes off if the battery is removed. No answer from Viscom Technology to letter of 9/12 for return merchandise form needed to return it.Phone numbers play music for ever, checking them out find they burnt others on PC's they make. Will let you know if I ever get help. Thanks for the forum, I enjoy learning more on how to take great pictures with the equipment out there.

Welcome ykc,

By the time these cameras sell, they typically go for around $150. The winning bids usually show up in the last minute or so before the auction closes.

If you look around in this forum, there is lots of info on the V1, including samples. The samples from the Aiptek MPVR will be the same.

Welcome Rod,

Good luck with the Microtek. It certainly sounds like it's faulty. The on-line support for hybrids is, unfortunately, non-existent, with the phone support not much better. People have gotten calls answered by Mustek USA and Aiptek USA. Glad you enjoy the forum - we're trying to fill in for what the manufacturers are failing to do.

Even if this forum can't help much with defective cameras, at least people researching purchases can learn what to watch out for. An older Hybrid forum certainly informed a lot of people that the Mustek DV5500 was to be avoided.
