Hi all,

Does anyone know for sure what framerate can be achived by the MobiDv H10 and H18 cameras in 640x480 video mode? It is rebranded by several companies and some of them claim that it is only 15 fps, while others say 25 fps

Does anyone own one and could tell me for sure?

A video sample at top quality would also be great!

Thanks,

Pirracas

This website, which may be the manufacturer, states the MobiDV has a variable frame rate:

Or is this the maker?:
http://www.shirocorp.com/products/DSC/dsc_dvm200.html

Your numbers are consistent with their note that the cameras store videos in .asf format, which is a variable frame rate format. Therefore I suspect the lower frame rate may be an average or minimum, and the higher number is the maximum. (The .avi video format is fixed frame rate, so the specs on cameras that use .avi probably are more likely to be accurate.)

On this site, http://www.istar.com.au/products/dvcam/ the frame rate at 640x480 is listed at 10-15fps, and 320x240 at 25-30fps for the H18. Other sites mostly listed the maximum at 640x480 as 15fps.

There's an eBay seller of an H12 who claims a video frame rate of 250fps. Obviously they've confused some specs about the sensor's capabilities, with what the camera can do.

The slow frame rate is almost the only thing I don't like about this remarkable and truly pocket-size camera.

Thanks for your answer.
The place where I saw the 25fps claim is the website of cyberpacific (reseller?):
http://www.cypactech.com/products/dc_mobidv_en.html

Could it be that the framerate depends on the speed of the memory card?

It's a pity if it doesn't support 640x480 at 25fps, otherwise it looks like a really cool tiny device.

Do you know of any place where I could see video samples taken with this camera?

Thanks,
Pirracas

Piracas. we'll look into that., iIt might be your best bet to Email the contact person of the site, and find out if they have a sample Vid., at the moment I do not have the answer for you. but I can answer it with my camera. At a setting and viewed with windows Player, you can get the fps (frames per second) by going to the

view/statistics/advance
10 meg compressed asf file dropped from 95 meg

this will show you a lot of info you need to know, but it is a start . hope that was helpful

Lets see if sgspirit has the aswer.

The H10 version of this camera is also sold in Australia as the Ricoh Vivitar EEK. I would hope they would get the specs correct, and list it as 640x480/15fps.

The frame rate would only be slowed by a very slow memory card, like less than 6x.

For what you can tell from samples, this site offers some still pictures taken with the H18:

Click on the thumbnails to see more examples.
