Welcome bellenger!

I checked my files from the 810/V1 I used to have, and the video clips are .asf.

Digilife global website lists .ASF for DDV-V1 and DDV-V2 (New model).

Digilife USA lists a DDV-V1+ model with .AVI. This may just be bad specs as most Digilife models, except the V series, use .AVI.

I think an MPEG4 video can be .avi or .asf (and probably other formats too). Having had cameras that take both .asf and .avi, I haven't developed a preference. Which means that compared to the image quality, whether the files are .asf or .avi isn't important.

Same as cmos or ccd sensors. They have different characteristics, but overall they seem to do equally well as implemented in these cameras.

it is important to have AVI it is the orginal type of format or extention for editing in programs

asf format or extention is the updated version that these older editing programs do notrecognise. so yes there isa prefrence to who likes what.
