I have been doing quite a bit of research on hybrids and have one question. It is possible to charge the batteries in the Mustek DV3500 with a USB connection?

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Matt,

I have a Mustek DV 5500, and I leave it plugged into the USB port when not in use. It seems to charge OK, but not very fast though. Can take several days to fully charge, so it is not much use for general use.

All the best

Thanks. I am looking to use this camera as a webcam as well as a vid cam and dont want to worry about batteries when in use or when transfering files. Are you using NiMh?

Hi

I use the Li-Ion re-chargable battery pack that came with the camera. It should tell you in your owners manual about USB charging, it does in mine. It sounds like you use AA size batteries, so it could be different.

I actually don't have the camera yet. I am researching them before my purchase. Thanks for your help.

Hi again

You can download the DV3500 (and others) manual from the Mustek Taiwan website. It's about 1.5mb.

VW.

The 3500 is a AA battery X (2) you will charge the battery by a exteernal battery charger. the 3500 does not use the usb for battery charging.

the 3500 however will run on the usb port and bypass the batteries so

1. no battery drain, or removal

2. will run the webcam, and files and etc.

you'll enjoy the camer for sure and not worry bout the 3 hours minium battery life yep I got a good 3-5 hours on the batteries

use rechargables up to 3000 mah and you'll be happy 2 sets is all you need. remember the longer you own the batteries the more you'll recharge later on

Excellent. I am glad to hear that everyone is happy with this camera. I also have plenty of rechargable AA batteries laying around the house. Thank you for all your help. I stumbled into this forum by doing a google search and found it to be very helpful. All of the members and mods are courteous and willing to help a newbie. As i mentioned in another post, if all goes well (and my cam doesn't end up in 2 pieces like yours did fishy) i'll post some POV R/C vids.
