hi everyone,

well i've been researching the MPVR since i saw it on sale this week for $88 and i was amazed at how the quality was from youtube (thanks fishy the vids helped me make up my mind). I've gone and bought it and now kinda playing around with it.

i bought two SD cards one 1gb and another 2gb.

the 1gb is by PQI and works just fine.

the problem is with the Patriot Extreme Performance Plus (EP Plus) 133x,
from patriotmem.com website "Finally our Extreme Performance Plus (133X) has a read speed of 20MB/s and write speed of 16MB/s."

*when i insert the 2gb into the MPVR immediately i noticed NO screen icons, then after 3 seconds or so it will freeze (like it just took a pic) then shut off.

the computer reads it fine via multi-card reader.

the 1gb will read fine in the MPVR, with screen icons.

i know the max SD is 2gb so what gives?

oh and im still going through the threads the Search option showed.

thanks,
les.

possably the sd card is too fast? to much info? or memory for yhe camera

I personally would keep to a 1 gig card why? battery will drain before you run out of memory?

the problem can be sd card not liking that brand its a first in my book

sandisk, Adata, panasonic and kings... all work fine panasonic is my fastest card and is the smallest size. sorry I was not helpful enough

hmm... well the PQI is 150x 1GB and works just fine, so it's either the 2GB size or the Brand/Model.

well i figured just in case i end up recording a long vid where a 1GB would end so i didnt have to switch mem. cards. also it was on sale:G and was the fastest w/big TX rates, but there have been posts that have said the MPVr's Buffer impedes any faster TX rates from occuring which seem plausible. kinda like a 2.O USB cable restricted by the 1.1 USB connection.

no worries, i will most likely get two more 1GB's of the PQI since I know they work. Or there's a sale somewhere. lol.

Is there a 2GB SD that other members have said to have worked well?
I have mostly seen posts with 1GBs.

Still hopeful, it would just mean less mem. cards to carry around, but then again I'm planning on having a huge stock of extra charged batteries on hand, lol.

thanks though

i would say it's the brand. why would aiptek mess up on card max. capacity of 2gb unless they really verified that capability for the mpvr? i just bought a pqi 2gb 50x sd card from ebay and waiting for its arrival. pqi guarantees 100% compatibility which might explain why your pqi 1gb works and not your patriot 2gb. but i'll let you know how my pqi 2gb card works out when i get it.

so is high speed just mainly for MPVr or SD to computer?

i may just also get a slower speed, if its cheaper.

also Fry's Electronics has a 2GB kingston SD for 39.99.
i'll get $10 back, lol.

i'll let you folks know as i'm heading out to the store soon.

thanks tommy and fishy

i saw that ad too, great price for a kingston. yeah, a memory card that's too fast could lead to some compatibility issues especially since the mpvr does not really utilize the speed of these newer cards. but as i said before, brand may have more to do with it than anything else. that said, you should be ok with the kingston 2gb card.

well i returned the patriot and got a PQI 2GB 60x instead since i didnt want the hassle of coming back to return another card.

no matter, it works just fine.

as for that kingston. i asked what the speed was and the lady said it was slow which is why that particular card didnt even show the speed. which should be a hint.

thanks for the input folks.

oh the numbers are:
PLU# 4853000
P/N: AE21-2030--1-1 (60X)
