I am trying to use my new Canon 8800 scanner to scan in some 35mm slides and coulod use some quick advice on the settings. In the PhotoStudio software I have the scan settings set to:

- Selected Source: Color Positive Film

- Film Size: centmeters

- Color Mode: color

- Output Resolution: 2400dpi

- Output Size: Flexible

This would seem to be an ideal setting for quality versus performance. However when I save the file from PhotoStudio to my Mac's desktop, I end up with a file that is only approximately 350k where I would think it should be much larger.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Hunter,
I used the ArcSoft PhotoStudio with my 8800F only for a few days, it was very unsatisfying.
To gain perfect scans you need a professional software like SilverFast,
maybe the SilverFast SE or SE plus version for a beginner in image processing.

There are demo versions and even tutorial movies for free downloading on their webpage.

Canon is bundling their scanners with SilverFast in europe.
This has to have a good reason ...
