Default Flatbed Scanners for Negatives - Epson 2450???

How close is the Epson 2450 come to perfect with scanning negatives? I don't want to spend money on too many toys if one will do the job. (just a hobbyist with limited space and cash!!!!!)

I have used my 2450 for about 6 months now and have been very pleased. I no longer use my Canon 2710 film scanner.

If you're not in a great hurry, you might want to wait a month or so for the 3200. It is the scheduled replacement for the 2450. It's due here in the states in March, but has already been released in Europe. The expected price is about the same as the 2450 and I understand the 3200 to be much faster. It sure seems that the price of the 2450 should be dropping with the 3200 announced, but I guess they'll just wait until it actually arrives.
