Hey all,

I am seriously considering getting into medium format film, but I don't want to give up the powers of digital editing. Are the consumer priced scanners (under $500) up to the task of scanning 6X6 negs in such a way so as not to lose the high image quality of a 6X6 (which is, after all, the only reason to shoot that format in the first place)?

If yes, then which scanners would be up to this task?

If no, then which higher priced scanners could do it, and how much would they cost? Alternatively, how does it typically cost to get a high quality scan done at a lab?
