Today on the models IP3300, 3500, 4500 etc I know you can disable the ink detection system which also voids the warrenty and just keep on printing. Something Ideal for those using CIS systems.

Myquestion is ... is this still true with all models of Canon printers? Are they changing things to make if more difficult, or changing the chip to force us all to start over again?

Just don't want to buy the wrong printer only to find out that Iam forced to buy Canon cartridges !!!

Do NOT buy ip4600. The refilling thing is doing my head in. I wish I'd never bought it.
