Hi all, be gentle this is my first post. I have just unwrapped my canon pixma ip5200R and consulting my photoshop bible from Scott Kelby found the part about getting ICC profiles for the paper types I am to use. I can find sites that will charge me £25 a time for them but do I need them? I intend to use the canon photo pro paper and the canon inks but am I missing out if I don't buy a profile? Hope to hear soon,

Darcy :O:?

There should be profiles for Canon papers and inks installed when you install the printer driver. If you are using Windows XP they should be found in Windows/System32/spool/drivers/colors. You can use them in applications that support icc/icm files or you can also use them in the Canon printer driver. I think the default profile for the Canon driver is a generic Canon profile. There are some documents available on the web concerning profiles with Canon printers. One is called "Using ICC Profiles with Canon Printers" and the other is from Canon called "ICC Profile Guides". Don't remember exactly where I got them from but a Google search or a search in this forum ought to turn them up. Hope this helps.

Thanks Steve both for the speedy reply and the info - I'll google it and see what else I can add to your useful advice,

Also, Kodak and Ilford sites have recommended settings for their papers.
