I have had this Best Buy $100 gift certifcate burning against my thigh for some time. Was thinking of buying a new camera after giving one of my 3 Kodaks to my girl friend. I gave her my Dx7440 which is much easier to carry around than her DX 7590 and has a (what I think) a great optical view finder.
I was looking to fill the void between my 10x optical zoom Z7590 and my Z730 with its 4x optical zoom. The 4x is in many ways my favorite because of its compact size and optical view finder. I narrowed my choices down to the Kodak CX875 with its 8mp and 5x optical zoom, the Panasonic DMC-LZ 5s with 6mp and 6x optical zoom and IS (image stabalizer) and the "DMC-LZ3s (same as above but 5mp and cheaper in price). A new cell phone was also a consideration as my Verizon phone fell into the sink for a few seconds in less than 2" of water, went black but seems to have recuperated the brief dive. Went to Best Buy today and touched all the cameras, looked at the lcd viewer (non have eye level viewers). Scratched up some dandruff and said "when I have my 4x I wish I had my 10x", when I have my 10x I say "I should have brought my T-con" or gripe that this 10x needs my camera bag, if it only could fit in my pocket" You would have to wear a Capt. Kangaroo coat to keep the 10x in your pocket so..... I bought a Panasonic DMC-TZ! with a 10x optical Elmarit lens, about 1/2" wider and a tad shorter than my 4x optical Z730. The battery and charges look like the Kodaks but are not exactly the same but the panasonic uses the same SD memory. BiLL ![]() |

My rule of survival " if the picture is soft polarize it, if that does not fix it solarize it or soarize d polarize it".

Hi Bill-
Congratulations on your new Panasonic TZ-1. I have one also. It is a nice camera. However, I have found that you have to keep the ISO setting at ISO 200 or below to eliminate noise. Nice photos, BTW! MT/Sarah |
