........to scan many old family pictures. Looking for a unit that is user friendly and will not make me have to sell any body parts.

At work I was recomended a Epson v100.

If there is one that can do 35mm slides but not take too long to scan that could be nice too.

I found a B/W print of my graduation class from the 3rd grade. The desks all look super clean. Those were the days that if you dared carve your name on your desk you may as well add R.I.P. above it :shock:
