I'm one who is very anxious to see this model, which looks terrific on paper (see Kodak U.S. site for full specs, including owner's manual). Amazon.com says it's not coming out till July 14! That's just too long to wait. Does anyone have more accurate information, confirming or altering this date? I've written Kodak, but no response as yet. I hate to make a decision (Canon A80, or Sony W1, or Sony P100) without also seeing the 7440. Thanks...

Well, I got a formal answerback from Kodak. They've said the camera will be released "in June." - not when in June, just June. That's better than the July 14 date at Amazon, anyway. Hopefully, we'll see it early in June.

It's june now, has any one tried the new Kodak 7440?

I want to buy a new camera this month's and it is either the A80 or the 7440. The 7440 because of the big LCD and the fast click-to-capture time of 0.2 seconds.

Anyone????

My CompUSA promises me the 7440 will be in Friday or Saturday. I've already got an A80 on order, and will buy the two of them to compare with a bunch of shots around home and the neighborhood. BTW, the A80 is from Costco, and the 7440 will be from Wal-Mart, both with easy return policies, as long as you're careful about what you open in the box!

My choice is down to the two of those, with the Sony W1 as a dark horse.
