I want to use the Windows XP "Scanner and Camera Wizard" to download pictures from my Z712 instead of the Easyshare software. Will the EXIF data be downloaded as well to be used ina different photo editing program?

Thanks

Kevin.

Yes, the EXIF data is part of each file saved by the camera, and it doesn't matter how you get it to the computer.A card reader is the easiest and fastest way. These can be very cheap indeed. I've just bought several tiny but fully operational USB SD card readers for 1.0 ukpounds (c.$2) each in my local 'pound shop'.

You may lose the EXIF data if you open the file actually on the card, in or out of the camera, using a viewer or editor, and then resave it elsewhere. Some packages save the original exif data, but many don't.

The data will stay in the file as long you just move it around from one place to another. Make sure you always keep copies of the original camera file somewhere on your system, and preferably somewhere else as well (e.g., on CD).

Good Luck!

Thanks Alan, that's just the info I was looking for.
