I Isus and welcome to the forum,

There are allot of great colors in this photo. It shows the ability of the camera. What distracts me is so much of the photo is out of focus. It draws my eyes away from what ever was important to you in this photo. A little tighter crop on the subject would be one way to improvethis photo in my opinion.

Keep them coming.

Thanks, I am the supreme Digital Cam rookie.... only using the auto mode. I did buy the P20 flash, which arrived yesterday. Looks really great, If I can master the settings, I'm sure I'll have some great pics. This is my first venture into photography.

Next time strive for a little more uniformity in the focus zone, such as this sample photo.

Will I be able to achieve these results without fiddling too much with the manual settings? Perhaps use the "flower" preset and the "macro" focus option?

Isu-

You might want to get into the habit of using the "P" for Program Mode. It works exactly like the "Auto" Mode, but now you can make changes that we create desireable results. For example, if you just increase your ISO speed to ISO 200 the P-850 will choose a smaller aperture automatically, thus giving you, a wider zone of your photo that is in sharp focus.
