I saw a glorious sunset the other day as I drove home, and thought I should go up our local hill and shoot it from there on a suitable evening. Next day looked most promising so I set off in the dusk. The promised sunset didn't materialise due a cloud bank in the west, but I I had fun anyway...
As mist began to pour over the hill on my descent, I took the opportunity to explore the Z1012's low light performance, and incidentally its image stablisation and its in-camera 3 -shot panorama mode.
28 November 2008 16:24:32 (sunset 15:57)
Exposure mode: Auto
Exposure bias [EV]: 0.0 (but twiddled by pointing at the sky, as on my Z712)
35mm focal length [mm]: 33
ISO value: 400
Shutter speed [s]: 1/8 (hand-held)
Aperture: F2.8
('Curves' adjusted slightly to improve foreground)
Further on, in the gloom on the muddy track home through the woods, a sludge sprayer was cleaning his tank with his headlights on. I adjusted the EV in the EVF by eye to look as I perceived it without the camera, resulting in this high ISO shot.
It'd have been less shaky if I'd thought to prop it on the gatepost, but I was in a hurry as I couldn't see where I was putting my feet, and I knew the tanker would be coming along the track shortly.
