What is the best Kodak for the money in the range of 225.00? The thing about kodak is you have to get the docking station seperate. Thanks for your opinions.

DX7440 is being discounted heavily right now and is a very good bargain for the money!!

Good pick Dawg!
I have a DX7440 and it is one AWESOME camera!

One thing worth considering:
"What are you going to use it for???"

For overall general use the DX7440 is a great bet.
OR the Z730 which is similiar to itbut has 5MP (instead of 4MP)
for only $50 more ($195).;search=z730

If you wantsomething to stash in your pocket
there isthe super compactV530, going for around$240.
- alittlepast yourbudget but just$25.;topcat_id=11

- OR-

ForhigherZOOM look at theDX6490
It'snot as compact but has much moreflexibility for advanced shots.
now selling foraround $250;topcat_id=11

With any of those 4 camera's you really can't go wrong.
Just get what fits your needs the best.

One of thegood things about KODAK is that you"CAN" get a docking station for it.

Ebay. I got my 6490 $194 shipped. Now I seem less. Kodak has them @ 250 free shipping. If you go Ebay make sure you get a dock on anything over $140 and software, ect

Walmart ads the 6mp Kodak Z760 at $220, On line the 5mp CX 7530 can be had for $140 plus shipping. Why would you want to tie up your cameraon an expensive dock? Why not buy 4 rechargableNmh batteries and a charger and a pair of SD memory cards, and a card reader all for less money than the dock andhave lots more versitility and shooting capability. Your camera would not have to go into dock to recharge and download pics. You could run it nearly continuous and read the memory cards directly ontoyour computer, copy to CD or print.

Don't have a dock and don't miss it. Wish I had the printer dock for the wife, She needs to hold the photo's, Can't figure out why but it's something she wants. As for the nimh batteries the litium ions do as well or better and the charger comes with the camera so you don't need to buy a new one. An extra battery is nice but with the lithium ions you can take around 350+ photo's without rechargeing any way. Just get a spare one and never run out of juice!

I actually preferthe Lithium Ion and the dock, with a memory card reader.

All types ofrechargable batterieshave to be replaced eventually (even the NiMH). But Ifound thelithium ion batteries toactually last longerbefore recharging.

Kodak is using theLithium Ion in it's latest cameras, The technology isnt perfect, but it's better.

As for the dock, the one touch photo transfer feature is nice, but howeveronly available when using the Kodaksoftware. Personally, I prefer to use a more advancedphoto manager (like Picasa or Acdsee) and transfer using a memory card reader.

The dock does make battery recharging simple. Without ityou have to manually remove the batteries and then replace them after charged. To me that is a pain. It's just easier toset the cam on the dock and be done with it.
