I'm thking about buying one and take a lot of pictures of my dogs. I now have a Canon A40 and was going to buy a A80 till i read some reviews on the Kodak DX 6490.

It`s not bad,,,haven`t done a lot of people shots,,,here`s one of Sarah the minature Schnauzer,,,,she gives it 3 paws up !!!!!!

A very small amount of PSE2 would help correct it....but why bother..

Its got the standard red eye flash and the software that comes with the easyshare camera line is quite useless except for their red eye tool which works very well. I myself take alot of pictures of my dogs and the 6490 is perfect because the 10x zoom allows you to get great action/playing/running photos from a distance. Overall the camera is perfect. Good luck.

hmmm..with Red-eye setting, my dog STILL looks like the evil mistress she is!

Red eye on a person depends on if they look directly at the preflash,,,if they look away,,,it does not work,,,,red eye modes on almost all cameras rarely work really well,,,

I was about to say that dogs don't get red eyes, or at least that's what I have noticed, not having a dog myself. They get white or yellowish eyes that the red eye tool of editing software cannot correct.

Nice dogs, my dog gets blue eyes from the flash.

Animals and especially dogs will give you green or yellow eye.

It is the same reason for all animals (including my ex wife). Light is reflected off of the back of the eyeball and has the same effect as if you were shooting into a mirror. Different animals have slightly different eye structure internally, in that the have more rods and stems in the yellow/green part of the spectrum.

People have more complex structure in that they can define more of the visual color spectrum and you generally get the ol' 'Red-Eye'.

Brief and by no means complete answer - leave that up to the self confessed experts.
