How does the lens hood for Kodar DX6490 works? How is it conected to the camera?
It seems like the lens house not will be able to move in to the camera house when switching off? Is this good for the camera? Can it destroy something? /Best regards Thomas |

Thomas you have to purchase the lens adapter tube to connect the hood! This way the hood is kept away from the lens moving in and out!
Go here to see one! http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/cont...goryNavigation Dawg |

If you buy the kodak adapter like dawg told you, you can buy a rubber lens hood It will cost you about 3$
The small end of the adapter slides over the lens & into the gap between it and the stationary part around it....then it screws clockwise. ![]() P.S. Be very careful screwing the adapter in. The threads are very fine and can become crossthreaded easily. If it doesn't look right back it out and try again. Don't force it!! |

Listen to Boily!! I bought mine at Wolf Photo for about $4.95. I keep it rolled back but on the camera as long as I'm not using the TCON or wideangle lens or my Cokin filter set as it has it's own modular lens hood! Please pay attention to what Boily said about the fine threads! I can't count the times I've had to back mine off then start again!

That one is better as it allows you to select what light from what angle you wish to block! Most rubber fold back ones just block all in a 360 degree circle!

Do I have to remove the whole unit with the tricky threads or is it enought to remove just the lens hood if i want to use it indoors with the flash? I have hear that the hood will shadow the flash.

You can leave the adapter on for flash shots with out any adverse effects! But if you leave the hood on or an auxilliary lens it will block the exposure sensor making the camera give you darker photos! At least that has been my experience! If you want to leave it (the hood) on then you need an auxilliary flash and you will have to shoot in PASM so you can adjust the exposure manually to compensate!!
