One of my favorite subjects.
This is a full-size crop, otherwise unmodified. I love that the 6490 can get this sort of shot. But I do wish it would let me lock focus longer than 60 seconds, so I could be ready when these little guys appear! |

Thanks! I think they've already settled in for the summer, here in Georgia.
This one has been resized down to 50%: |

Here's one that's a bit odd looking, although not as bizarre some I've gotten in the past. Resized to 50%, but otherwise unmodified. |

So just how close to the feeder are you? If I get closer than about ten feet, I'm much less likely to get photo ops. But it appears that you're much closer than that. Is that an external flash you're using? |

Robb,,i was about 5 feet away,,took this through the window,,,with the nternal flash,,,,just bounce the flash off the window on a good angle and you get hardly any flash-back.....there is some reflections in the original photo but i made sure that they would not be where the bird was...

Brian, I can't touch what you're doing, but here's one recent shot that I like a lot. ISO 400, with the built-in flash. It's been processed by Helicon Noise Filter, and resized to 70%.

Robb,,,what`s wrong with that ?????...considering the speed of these birds anything coming out near as good as that is great.....keep them coming,,,i`m going to go at the hummer shots tonight i hope,,,,,parents have 5 feeders,,,,lots of chances at a better shot,,,but i`m also a critic on my work,,,,always in search of that "perfect" shot,,,,which in my mind i`ll never get,,,,with any camera,,,,,i have extremely high expectations for myself,,,,,,keeps me striving for better though...
