Default Kodak cx 4230 vs. Sony P-31

Which one is better? (image quality etc.)

Haven't read up on the Sony, but that Kodak is a simple point-n-shoot with not many menu choices for compensation ( no manual settings at all). The slowest shutter speed is 1/8 sec I believe, which is inadequate for low light levels, even outdoors. You should look for a camera with a range down to 1/2 sec at least (most do). There are only 3 settings for resolution/compression instead of the 8 or 9 most cameras offer.
The 4230's main selling point is probably that it's the cheapest 2MP 3X zoom around. It does do a good job within it's limitations.

For $85 Cdn more, you can get a Canon A40 with all the 'bells and whistles'.
