I know it's an older camera but I hate to dump it because it's been a good camera for the last 5 years. Here's the problem. Nothing happens when I press the menu button to delete pictures. The screen just doesn't come up at all. I've tried new batteries but still nothing. Any suggestions?

See what Kodak wants to fix it. When you get their flat rate repair charge you will justify living with the camera as is.

If the batteries didn't fix it then a email to Kodaks customer support is in order. They may want you to send it to them for repair.

My DX3900 runs the battery down in about 5 to 10 shots. I took it to camera store to get some idea of cost to have it looked at. Clerk said forget it. Cost just to look inside would be so much that new camera would be better choice. (He did not try to sell me camera.) So now I have P850. I would still like to have DX3900 working. It would be handy second camera. Was clerk right??

Welcome back. You've not be forgotten! But to answer your question...If the camera has special meaning in some way...then it is worth the repair. If no special place in your heart then a new camera should be in your mind. the repair cost will be nearly as much as a new equivalent camera!

Thanks Dawg!! I was afraid you would say that. No, nothing sentimental, just hate to see $399 at Sears down the Tube so soon.
If I remember correctly P850 was $269 at Costco. I sometimes wonder if I should have gone with P880 at around $300. I'll start a new thread with pictures from Daughter-in-law. Ken S. |

I will be looking forward to those photos Ken! According to what you want to do with photography as to which camera to get. The P850 will give you the zoom needed for those wildlife and bird photos as well as sports shots. The P880 is much better for landscapes and indoor shots. Ya just gotta pick yer poison! LOL

google dx3600 or better yet use froogle (shopping search engine of google) and see if available and at what price.. the cost to fix a digital camera is almost as as much as a new camera and there is very little warrenty on service.
